But just few years later, together with Software 2000, they came up with new take on the soccer manager genre that it shaped the future titles for long years. Their Bundesliga Manager game (later version was called Bundesliga Manager Professional) wasn't in theory that different from the others, but in some way it actually was. While games of the genre were based mostly on text and (at best) simple animations, they went to produce game that not only had quite impressive interface, but also used complicated animations to present goal chances. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ_HSwcfVxS5OHi66ybG8x-XMqBEc7HoQw5-D80I8zZxwpijYvZt2hRAfhOxWzvtAeEjE8Y7rzNbP37NM5xCS2d_-FMnBQpRrBtI5VMPiitr9I_fzeSWLscvzC89vsu23lzeAqqMW4DEKqWOCnWlDTAxgUcH1wup5lfT3HD9JcMlyNX7l2qj3pCw/s656/bundesliga-man-pro-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="526" data-original-width="656" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ_HSwcfVxS5OHi66ybG8x-XMqBEc7HoQw5-D80I8zZxwpijYvZt2hRAfhOxWzvtAeEjE8Y7rzNbP37NM5xCS2d_-FMnBQpRrBtI5VMPiitr9I_fzeSWLscvzC89vsu23lzeAqqMW4DEKqWOCnWlDTAxgUcH1wup5lfT3HD9JcMlyNX7l2qj3pCw/s320/bundesliga-man-pro-7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While the idea with animations wasn’t new, even Spectrum Football Manager used them, in Bundesliga Manager they were not only better, but also complex and fitted perfectly with the rest of the interface. On the other hand the players were described using only three parameters (skill, fitness and form), but the way it was presented was enough to keep users busy for a long time. What is more the animations were only tip of the iceberg - Bundesliga Manager had managerial options that were absent in other titles, like signing sponsorship deals for ads around stadium, sending team to training camp or improve parts of the stadium.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwNOgbg8qcGM-g13AGdk8CC-3qv-8W31pnVLlol_jX_XEB9juEdtYsunqezQSNNuwx6ohX7wQTF81cPVAbn7oDgaY-6TLxZ1R6iRhFnNoHR6R1tdQ5lHkYjsEC-3tZyEGTsTNFcHr84FsB5rhOXZS0S4PNq48dAqsZAhYXVBZ1VaugF8fZM3Tesw/s656/bundesliga-man-pro-2.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="526" data-original-width="656" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwNOgbg8qcGM-g13AGdk8CC-3qv-8W31pnVLlol_jX_XEB9juEdtYsunqezQSNNuwx6ohX7wQTF81cPVAbn7oDgaY-6TLxZ1R6iRhFnNoHR6R1tdQ5lHkYjsEC-3tZyEGTsTNFcHr84FsB5rhOXZS0S4PNq48dAqsZAhYXVBZ1VaugF8fZM3Tesw/s320/bundesliga-man-pro-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfrg3nseSmCf75-71FyESs2D1OOY_3bVybQ6HRec-rtpMMyurColI6wvsIqStfFGybQTu9lTVy6weofi7md0n8XotKHvz6VDHgdAaJkLFqiXigyOrXKCLXnmHQtdq9TuXslaw3ajkacFRfP3A4xBiEVuaAY4nOjBqkiGEHx54lZagECPsRYWvOQ/s656/bundesliga-man-pro-3.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="526" data-original-width="656" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfrg3nseSmCf75-71FyESs2D1OOY_3bVybQ6HRec-rtpMMyurColI6wvsIqStfFGybQTu9lTVy6weofi7md0n8XotKHvz6VDHgdAaJkLFqiXigyOrXKCLXnmHQtdq9TuXslaw3ajkacFRfP3A4xBiEVuaAY4nOjBqkiGEHx54lZagECPsRYWvOQ/s320/bundesliga-man-pro-3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfnOGhp5CRe35nzFL5o3U0UqnA6kNyQ9le13VE_7Km54uVfzE_sIL4eOZCZN--zcNVPp1txwwwmXZhTc1opHBwVx6pfd8azdP6WLu2_VekNnWjvjRfeZcH_55NuesAtMqzHiu7zP9BYHlN0JtUCvMPJz-WSjg2ja2jPydtlqg2G1dT0X6HRGq6Nw/s656/bundesliga-man-pro-4.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="526" data-original-width="656" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfnOGhp5CRe35nzFL5o3U0UqnA6kNyQ9le13VE_7Km54uVfzE_sIL4eOZCZN--zcNVPp1txwwwmXZhTc1opHBwVx6pfd8azdP6WLu2_VekNnWjvjRfeZcH_55NuesAtMqzHiu7zP9BYHlN0JtUCvMPJz-WSjg2ja2jPydtlqg2G1dT0X6HRGq6Nw/s320/bundesliga-man-pro-4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiczgGEg5SbKWzu9HyZdRZll16LJoTDeJmaoqSGzILWi2ZC4glSOcFaf6__01JTQGGzfJIkILjBJ8ICxm02NtKZuPvnG4WPBCq4QhZbWmgxqFuPBpOyVtegzEhkopkwp1TdE7sVyY3YNVUfFPG1GXZ_5ObqApdTNVTgk1pgtmi5mON5bhms7gkrig/s656/bundesliga-man-pro-5.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="526" data-original-width="656" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiczgGEg5SbKWzu9HyZdRZll16LJoTDeJmaoqSGzILWi2ZC4glSOcFaf6__01JTQGGzfJIkILjBJ8ICxm02NtKZuPvnG4WPBCq4QhZbWmgxqFuPBpOyVtegzEhkopkwp1TdE7sVyY3YNVUfFPG1GXZ_5ObqApdTNVTgk1pgtmi5mON5bhms7gkrig/s320/bundesliga-man-pro-5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Of course with limited number of animations available with time the game was losing its freshness, but then they introduced the slightly upgraded version, Bundesliga Manager Professional, which offered additional events added by the fans, which was again a novelty. The game was so popular that Software 2000 published English version, called just The Manager, which simulated the English divisions and brought a lot of attention to the title.<br /><br />Overall Bundesliga Manager introduced so many new elements to the gameplay that it’s hard to imagine how the genre could have existed without them - even with very simple gameplay it was fun for long, long hours with literally matches described in newspaper, sending team to training camps, negotiating loans with bank and signing deals with sponsors.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">There even was sort-of multiplayer option, in which up to 4 players could take part in the game taking in turns all the decisions for their own teams (playing on same computers). few new features, like weather system, inter-divisional cups, friendly
tournaments and RPG elements.</b></p><p>Football-o-Rama is a free multiplayer online soccer manager game with
focus on long-term strategy. Originally established in 2002 now Rama
returns in new form with much wider range of options. You start your
team from scratch - select location in any of the thousands of cities
around the world, build your stadium, hire your first players and find
staff members to help you. You will have plenty of resources at the
beginning, so you can freely choose your strategy - you can either
invest in stadium, invest in youth players, bring the top stars or just
adapt to the situation as you go along.</p>

While the general appearance of the game is rather positive - you have pretty nice looking graphics, interface in form similar to German games of the era, where each bit of interface is "hidden" within graphics - players were described only using very basic parameters (goalkeeping, defense, passing, shooting, speed and fitness), playing a match was not that great (a top-down view that does not give you much data to work on) and plenty of options were done just good enough, without getting into details.</p><p> </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdEalf3DHCyfU_wmcFCvhQ92Asr_k95vZDaNoU7UmwmfnytnhbGdvwYlfliZJnfo3fPPQt9neGGk2_wvt9gAwLF44Nh9_9Vhu7L59wtdqlpQqqV2JUvXGTyGVOS5P9ue3NK_n7WXjUsw/s1430/Ultimate+Soccer+Manager+v1_10.png.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1430" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdEalf3DHCyfU_wmcFCvhQ92Asr_k95vZDaNoU7UmwmfnytnhbGdvwYlfliZJnfo3fPPQt9neGGk2_wvt9gAwLF44Nh9_9Vhu7L59wtdqlpQqqV2JUvXGTyGVOS5P9ue3NK_n7WXjUsw/w400-h240/Ultimate+Soccer+Manager+v1_10.png.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p></p><p>Simplicity could be a good thing in such game - it is easy for new players to get into the details and find the options they need, but in case of Ultimate Soccer Manager it was more like lack of depth than just simplicity. Premier Manager 09 was the last game of the series (well, almost, there was Premier Manager 12) created after Gremlin Interactive (creators of original games) closed their studio and development of the games in the series were moved elsewhere.<br /><br />Zoo Digital Publishing, which took over the title, changed the basics of the game in rather questionable move - instead of concentrating on PC, they adapted a PC Fútbol game and presented it as the next title in Premier Manager series. On one hand it was move towards making the game available on Playstation consoles, but at the same time the new game lacked the depth of original titles.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgklNn20Cwfe2NH6orS-sPcQuWnBYxYbaLSKCj8vnhm7dSuyhMCENRDS4iouaNOOW1kD58Vo9EyulCHKadWSp_pSloUDZG1QCQd2NnkRl7gsQ0D8YrAi3RSZauYYirzznZomjKJg0cWlQ/s1916/20210121210335_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Premier Manager 09 soccer manager game" border="0" data-original-height="1114" data-original-width="1916" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgklNn20Cwfe2NH6orS-sPcQuWnBYxYbaLSKCj8vnhm7dSuyhMCENRDS4iouaNOOW1kD58Vo9EyulCHKadWSp_pSloUDZG1QCQd2NnkRl7gsQ0D8YrAi3RSZauYYirzznZomjKJg0cWlQ/w320-h186/20210121210335_1.jpg" title="Premier Manager 09 soccer manager game" width="320" /></a></div><br />Apart from interface, which had to be simplified to allow Playstation users to operate the game, also the player and club parameters were changed. But there were also positive parts in Premier Manager 09 - you could choose any team and start in any division, you could give staff orders, you would get reports from staff members, news from media and feedback from players. At the same time there were some limitations, for example none of the foreign clubs was fully simulated, most of the foreign leagues were limited to just handful of team, player parameters were a bit too simple. Match engine offered top-down view on the pitch, but it is hard to actually call it inspired form of watching the match.<br /><br />While on surface very rough and riggit Premier Manager 09 was in fact not that bad - the interaction via e-mails and notes with the staff members work quite well, players interaction can build quite immersive feeling, but all of it was spoiled by a very simple interface that looked like quite old Playstation production, not to mention that some of the elements lacked the hover explanation.<p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3WVW_O6ASMXgLPAC7oQsAszOTARc7sLs66EbWuEi2zYk7Mde1QcppR6-tXzfHCOeny-tbzsGYIHwcxn-KluhzQjQ2PDovTvm7M5O3g2Ca9LTBWtPNIST4xSLCuNfxVy6anxOIc0oDeQ/s1916/20210121210521_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Premier Manager 09 - classic football manager game" border="0" data-original-height="1114" data-original-width="1916" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3WVW_O6ASMXgLPAC7oQsAszOTARc7sLs66EbWuEi2zYk7Mde1QcppR6-tXzfHCOeny-tbzsGYIHwcxn-KluhzQjQ2PDovTvm7M5O3g2Ca9LTBWtPNIST4xSLCuNfxVy6anxOIc0oDeQ/w320-h186/20210121210521_1.jpg" title="Premier Manager 09 - classic football manager game" width="320" /></a></div><br /> Overall a pretty good game that was dragged down by Playstation style interface almost useless on PC, over-simplified match engine view and limited player database.<p></p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlVGOIJtMRB6_n3Lr0VoFocEmEoxJ9l-Gj3JYFPz2FfFHDBG3imFDsJrkddUkKdegHmP0CCP9RR9HmFHSCt0ae_jhQ99v1ucLm8RchU0lj8e2OA9HVGIsVFiBNk2HIK3Zx5U5SOGiHKA/s1916/20210121223548_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Premier Manager 09 - retro football manager game" border="0" data-original-height="1114" data-original-width="1916" height="186" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlVGOIJtMRB6_n3Lr0VoFocEmEoxJ9l-Gj3JYFPz2FfFHDBG3imFDsJrkddUkKdegHmP0CCP9RR9HmFHSCt0ae_jhQ99v1ucLm8RchU0lj8e2OA9HVGIsVFiBNk2HIK3Zx5U5SOGiHKA/w320-h186/20210121223548_1.jpg" title="Premier Manager 09 - retro football manager game" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <br /><p></p>soccermanagerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965096046036134578noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177672071310922803.post-37246294211073540672021-07-14T04:09:00.003-07:002021-07-14T04:09:29.260-07:00Championship Manager 2010 - last in the line of classic games<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ5U1c4yA5Q_MWB1DnSujkQxlvpJg_NSkt-Zl0utk6wSDiq5SHovZAv5J0rFJxcXZK-JPkiIi53TM455TMObe-TVXypYGdnzG4kKUHSTIaKkV-FrEKrsYa77OU5KyaB8LLX3USOEjMpA/s800/championship-manager-2010-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ5U1c4yA5Q_MWB1DnSujkQxlvpJg_NSkt-Zl0utk6wSDiq5SHovZAv5J0rFJxcXZK-JPkiIi53TM455TMObe-TVXypYGdnzG4kKUHSTIaKkV-FrEKrsYa77OU5KyaB8LLX3USOEjMpA/w400-h300/championship-manager-2010-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>Championship Manager was last game in this popular series - at this point Football Manager games, made by the people, who left the original team behind Championship Manager (Sports Interactive studio), was taking over position as single leader in the genre of soccer management games for PC. While the original games of the ChampMan series were just amazing, the premiere of Championship Manager 4 and Sports Interactive leaving the project, the series was neglected, so say the least, by Eidos Interactive, which later became Square Enix Europe.</p><p>What went wrong? It is hard to point exactly, but bit by bit Championship Manager games under the wings of Eidos Interactive, were getting out of touch with its audience. First of all there was not much progress between 2004 and 2009, which Football Manager was introducing new features. Championship Manager 2010 was first with the 3D match engine, which was a move in right direction, the interface was improved, new divisions were introduced, new features were added... yet it failed to gain much attention comparing to its main competitor.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQKeisDNqs6JWi5YHLbLTe54H0pZmIsBD02SoQz4K5CD2leAtnUs8-cJ55DySasiOLAW7qRF1LLgVPYeXYiDhk3PAqHpkr1JDVC7BSPa4MYogSMwOvN9koZx1enzz_JafvDXXfLPRx7w/s800/championship-manager-2010-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQKeisDNqs6JWi5YHLbLTe54H0pZmIsBD02SoQz4K5CD2leAtnUs8-cJ55DySasiOLAW7qRF1LLgVPYeXYiDhk3PAqHpkr1JDVC7BSPa4MYogSMwOvN9koZx1enzz_JafvDXXfLPRx7w/w400-h300/championship-manager-2010-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Unfortunately with each improvement there were some really, really weird mechanics or simply bugs that broke the experience. Simplest example is the match engine itself - what do you think are the chances that one of the teams will score a goal in first minute? No, higher than that. Nope, you're still too low. Or rather Championship Manager 2010 has this parameter far too high, because goals being scored within first 2 minutes is quite common sight. You can even find screenshots, where people show score 3-0 and it is 9th minute of the match...</p><p>Similar story was with the injuries - it is hard to get through a match without one. Literally injury, not someone just being bruised or tired, in most of the matches your players will get injured so they will have to leave the pitch and spend some time recovering. Match engine itself had some issues as well - often players with plenty of space to dribble would try some hopeless shots or goalkeeper saves shot and defender, instead of letting goalie to pick up the ball would send it in the stands.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7AL1kkS97jlUDjIv1w51FNV8b3Y541fkpTIQVmXFGN6tGptfMqWZNzA_7pJnNOprruUbMI2ESfjMNIzkNhCQGy_qoY5pPQoLR-5n5jlGK6VGlxsl-x3h35gm2LMHWNR-lzhNKShirg/s800/championship-manager-2010-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7AL1kkS97jlUDjIv1w51FNV8b3Y541fkpTIQVmXFGN6tGptfMqWZNzA_7pJnNOprruUbMI2ESfjMNIzkNhCQGy_qoY5pPQoLR-5n5jlGK6VGlxsl-x3h35gm2LMHWNR-lzhNKShirg/w400-h300/championship-manager-2010-5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>On the other hand there were some good ideas invested in Championship Manager 2010, like scouting network, but then again it was implemented in such way that it can't be named anything else than a disaster. The idea was that you "hire" scouting network to be active in specific country or area of the world and from time to time you will get their reports pointing at good players. Sounds great, right? But when I mention that you will get those reports almost every day and you have no influence what they will contain, does it still sound great? You literally have zero influence on that network, so you will be flooded with reports about players that are too old, too expensive, too weird or absolutely useless. You will get reports that list same players over and over again, you will get reports about players that you already were told about or one who would never consider joining your club.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmGfhBiQ8jlHLreCsHGSsogmuf2I_q4SeLUIESoD0zPxTPpP5GJExCIN6QY6twsPcGDxQin8InCiODm5_YBUQbuJhx9RB5mx-LlcFZMskKDdcNC7jdL5gupFBYQzWCR3zq-roN7qIhzg/s800/championship-manager-2010-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmGfhBiQ8jlHLreCsHGSsogmuf2I_q4SeLUIESoD0zPxTPpP5GJExCIN6QY6twsPcGDxQin8InCiODm5_YBUQbuJhx9RB5mx-LlcFZMskKDdcNC7jdL5gupFBYQzWCR3zq-roN7qIhzg/w400-h300/championship-manager-2010-7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>Scouting also had one good option that worked in surprising way. You can scout yourself by setting requirements (quite specific requirements) and game would filter out all players according to those requirements. And there was no problem with that, apart from making your scouting network rather <span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b ChMk0b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="pl" data-phrase-index="0"><span>redundant</span></span></span>, because you can invite most of them for trial, when you will learn all of their parameters at once without spending weeks on observing them. That is quite useful, but also breaks the basic concept of the game, where you should gather the data with time and some of the parameters should be not fully known.</p><p>And there was one more problem with that, the problem that at some point you will realize there are tons of pretty good players available at any time on the out of contract list. And I don't mean good players, like decent amateurs, you can find really great talents and sign them for peanuts and with minimum effort put into it. That makes the whole transfer system almost redundant, because there are so many cheap and good players on free agent list that there is no point in negotiating transfers with other clubs, unless you are looking for real top quality player worth millions. Although, with time, you can find some of them on the free agent list or sign contracts with them when their contracts will be running out soon.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjjvCpaACUDbb4c2osx3jVArk7xY4PR9Nn9oiEcF9rbqs_3ckCT1-8JKKEGi-5kPl7AN7opjEAVJdZETodVgDvEW7yEREvIXCBpeKNbEr-O_1iDb2tJFFBgxZKyFgiaWfcI3RNpgPXHQ/s800/championship-manager-2010-8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjjvCpaACUDbb4c2osx3jVArk7xY4PR9Nn9oiEcF9rbqs_3ckCT1-8JKKEGi-5kPl7AN7opjEAVJdZETodVgDvEW7yEREvIXCBpeKNbEr-O_1iDb2tJFFBgxZKyFgiaWfcI3RNpgPXHQ/w400-h300/championship-manager-2010-8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>Overall Championship Manager 2010 was not a bad game, you can still enjoy playing it right now, but it is one of those examples, when rushing title to be published before it was properly tested is really not a good idea. ChampMan 2010 failed to beat Football Manager, but it had improvements comparing to previous games and with some more work put into it it could have been a very good game. Unfortunately we all know that Square Enix is not a fan of anything other than Final Fantasy series, so it not surprising that Championship Manager 2010 was last in the series of legendary games.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>soccermanagerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965096046036134578noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177672071310922803.post-47859526611402332212021-06-12T10:22:00.005-07:002021-06-12T10:22:23.212-07:00National team football manager game mode just got an upgrade<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwksjx9ALzykCxws-z0j90s_UVb8Qe1-yr0DzztbSiGSJp3XvgKE2T3mLys0mt-ZYXiHJpr3rW3Pu8jxUn6XcS8DNHV49d3oL3szwrYLz_306dDkSh6WICnBwyWPr7nYvjZjjwGh97nQ/s1022/zrzut-npp-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="776" data-original-width="1022" height="304" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwksjx9ALzykCxws-z0j90s_UVb8Qe1-yr0DzztbSiGSJp3XvgKE2T3mLys0mt-ZYXiHJpr3rW3Pu8jxUn6XcS8DNHV49d3oL3szwrYLz_306dDkSh6WICnBwyWPr7nYvjZjjwGh97nQ/w400-h304/zrzut-npp-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Niklas Persson's Project, a <b>national team manager game mode</b> in <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com" target="_blank">Santa Monica FC Online</a> just got an upgrade - more details of players are now available, like the level of division they play right now (domestic or foreign), what is their status in their club (first team members, irreplaceable, etc.) as well as stats from current league season.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnrN0GmZe3TG2Nn6viY1EosoiFq1AqpwKlH3PqolhGSWCIIxAAn9d1fNlPGh4WjKvRyTjQ7uI8uLRXkrFUOQoUxSemWSCgQ3sxR9QOCTSp1MFwCzsYXbKdVlbgitLQSE8UImllo5nraA/s1058/zrzut-npp-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="845" data-original-width="1058" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnrN0GmZe3TG2Nn6viY1EosoiFq1AqpwKlH3PqolhGSWCIIxAAn9d1fNlPGh4WjKvRyTjQ7uI8uLRXkrFUOQoUxSemWSCgQ3sxR9QOCTSp1MFwCzsYXbKdVlbgitLQSE8UImllo5nraA/w400-h320/zrzut-npp-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><p>Devs also added new events that will shake things around, especially players' morale and form. It never was a complicated game - each player has 8 basic parameters that describe his skills on positions (goalkeepeking, defence, playmaking and scoring, winger) and additional skills (set pieces, stamina, experience), which made its engine rather simple (read more about it in <a href="https://topfootballmanagers.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html" target="_blank">how to build game engine, part 1</a>), but at the same time that simplicity made Hattrick very popular. At one point Hattrick had around 1 million active players.<br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeSyXy1T0mwpR7ku_5SDn-RqjV3f5H5YUyu3RK3OZ1B_wJlqb_PBjkIGw1MRY3ARa7XVg_9Er_5uW0hLUSnPqdvRwd02p25y1sAIMoXdHNAWfdxuolLNxFV-fbFS8xlx39h3OIdlDIOw/s800/hattrick-soccer-manager-2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="800" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeSyXy1T0mwpR7ku_5SDn-RqjV3f5H5YUyu3RK3OZ1B_wJlqb_PBjkIGw1MRY3ARa7XVg_9Er_5uW0hLUSnPqdvRwd02p25y1sAIMoXdHNAWfdxuolLNxFV-fbFS8xlx39h3OIdlDIOw/w400-h294/hattrick-soccer-manager-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />The simplicity made the game popular (it was easy for new players to get a grip of the basics without any problem), but at the same time in long-term it became the curse. Yes, the game was very popular, this meant that a lot of players were trying to join, so new users were starting in 8th or even 10th division level, which was a bit frustrating. With 8 teams in each division it made season (1 match per week) take 14 weeks, so it was possible to play less than 4 seasons each year. It means that users starting in 10th division in most optimistic (and completely unrealistic) scenario it would take them about 3 real-life years to reach the top division and fight for championship.<br /><br />

All the transfers were done via auctions, you could play one league game and one cup or friendly match, training report was done once a week, so all you had to do throughout the week was to log in once, setup starting lineup for next match and... that's about it. Unless you were very active on transfer market or message board the game was a bit too simple for a lot of users.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQxCLjcYchEJUleWg8dqQsotc6TZoENFimeODSqR2CCZK__tY21VefhXRNXoigodhEBclqlHfnrAexrCDkO7CVCnt4GedJORtBY0LbZtLVrHQXLnPHVp96wXuVxkokc5H5NkOlyzmYAQ/s800/hattrick-soccer-manager-5.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="800" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQxCLjcYchEJUleWg8dqQsotc6TZoENFimeODSqR2CCZK__tY21VefhXRNXoigodhEBclqlHfnrAexrCDkO7CVCnt4GedJORtBY0LbZtLVrHQXLnPHVp96wXuVxkokc5H5NkOlyzmYAQ/w400-h294/hattrick-soccer-manager-5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>To make things worse the promotions and relegations system made only one team promoted automatically and second team was fighting in play-offs for promotion. Since the whole structure of the league was pyramid-shaped (one 1st division, four 2nd divisions, sixteen 3rd divisions, and so on) after each season as much as half of the teams could be replaced in any division below 1st: best team promoted automatically, second via play-offs, worst team relegated automatically, the one that finished 7th via play-offs.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEIJ9uaSpbYDPZ6Dd1zHLy5Yk-TFu1yHtWazaAMx0NhzS36NTsrtpoltGVlb6fcKupaW2Zx3kAyOaGQMitiMDBndl9mT_u5e1Z7jIZ2BA083nkPaaIJl8B_SRBc_pXnnBCWMXQzINHyw/s800/hattrick-soccer-manager-4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="588" data-original-width="800" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEIJ9uaSpbYDPZ6Dd1zHLy5Yk-TFu1yHtWazaAMx0NhzS36NTsrtpoltGVlb6fcKupaW2Zx3kAyOaGQMitiMDBndl9mT_u5e1Z7jIZ2BA083nkPaaIJl8B_SRBc_pXnnBCWMXQzINHyw/w400-h294/hattrick-soccer-manager-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>The simplicity of the game made problem in one more part - tactics. The match engine itself was very simple and put a lot of emphasis on central midfielders - if you had very good midfielders you gained more goal chances, which meant you will most like score more goals. This lead to formation 2-5-3 being the most popular in the game, and to be clear it meant 2 wingbacks, 0 central defenders, 3 midfielders, 2 wingers and 3 strikers. The authors were trying with time tweak the match engine to make it less predictable, but their approaches usually made the game just a bit weird, not better.</p><p>After the mess in mid 2010s the game lost a lot of users, not because the game was bad, it was just that the simplicity with time became a bit boring and with a lot of competition Hattrick had less and less to offer. The changes to the ownership and mismanagement of premium accounts also did not helped the game to progress and since its days of glory in early 2000s Hattrick became a stale and a bit forgotten game.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>soccermanagerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965096046036134578noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177672071310922803.post-3436009336733617012021-01-31T12:52:00.003-08:002021-01-31T12:52:48.568-08:00Premier Division 1993 soccer manager game<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0F20CIjRmDrv1ZrJZDTfBYTkxmOd2Mc-lDjlILHEPTk2dtK2EFl5atISKIpkXKtgaYyVGNdOEc7QiFI32e89e11Es8JmdMWrFB7DRU04l0T6IqGHSBkVe9MD4y5ZKtbp6i8TYHP-RfA/s1200/premier-division-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="1200" height="339" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0F20CIjRmDrv1ZrJZDTfBYTkxmOd2Mc-lDjlILHEPTk2dtK2EFl5atISKIpkXKtgaYyVGNdOEc7QiFI32e89e11Es8JmdMWrFB7DRU04l0T6IqGHSBkVe9MD4y5ZKtbp6i8TYHP-RfA/w400-h339/premier-division-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Premier Division was rather simple soccer manager game published in 1993 for Commodore Amiga by Zeppelin Games, a company that specialized in such simple games, but in that case the simplicity is not exactly a bad thing. All of the game elements were put as random events that can come up while you move your piece around the board.<br /><br />Another element worth noting is the use of random events, which often have rather... drastic form, for example the audit showed irregularities in taxes and you have to pay dearly for it or the doctors said that one of your players, unfortunately, will no longer be able to play football any more due to health problems.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxsydQprTuXv5Br9yr22pA7L-2VlEFTIpqVCpeqfWg3vNl2DtwZ9qECuNyL5NxGoRzV9_Ald3NfglGZjSSrktpjKRlyHfi73jIkLpcn8WLza5gIqV3XS1DxTOpKP9TIodZcE8B0Mj9w/s1200/premier-division-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="1200" height="339" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxsydQprTuXv5Br9yr22pA7L-2VlEFTIpqVCpeqfWg3vNl2DtwZ9qECuNyL5NxGoRzV9_Ald3NfglGZjSSrktpjKRlyHfi73jIkLpcn8WLza5gIqV3XS1DxTOpKP9TIodZcE8B0Mj9w/w400-h339/premier-division-3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br />Transfers are carried out in such a way that on the one hand they are a weak point of the game, and at the same time they introduce an additional random element to the game - after each turn there are up to 2 purchase offers, but the players are chosen in completely random way, so we do not known on what position players will be available or are they in our budget range, so if, for example, you need an inexpensive midfielder, you can sometimes wait for weeks for the right offer to pop up.<br /><br />Generally, the game is very simple, it lacks many elements that could made this a good football manager, but nonetheless Premier Division is a very addictive game that allows you to quickly play the season.<p></p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3l1ji7CzIX5PYRczHZtfU9ShSC1ER1bWLYjZx7saqa0XP2fHWzKSmgoCiQGNCmdKC_XzozF3xpJvDb_r5Tqhs0LGcinSVULDx7ibQXouyGxwfYYkuYN0aGrUDpQOKdiZbu1OXhzlpYw/s1200/premier-division-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="1200" height="339" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3l1ji7CzIX5PYRczHZtfU9ShSC1ER1bWLYjZx7saqa0XP2fHWzKSmgoCiQGNCmdKC_XzozF3xpJvDb_r5Tqhs0LGcinSVULDx7ibQXouyGxwfYYkuYN0aGrUDpQOKdiZbu1OXhzlpYw/w400-h339/premier-division-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />soccermanagerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12965096046036134578noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177672071310922803.post-89944349794860412972021-01-27T08:22:00.006-08:002021-01-29T04:25:28.827-08:00Championship Manager Italia - failed spin-off of classic ChampMan<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNDqy-DmPUuRErtdknpnICgE_yIr5fuJWl7Z0ipOAL5RQwEIISHxzusY_6qxKQNaMtCXd1KbCWJCL7eATKRk8WutfXAWQJjeAc5_NtbCIzEsej0uQ3ugpzrbFzTYDNW9RPuMouFdiww/s1500/championship-manager-italia-1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="707" data-original-width="1500" height="189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNDqy-DmPUuRErtdknpnICgE_yIr5fuJWl7Z0ipOAL5RQwEIISHxzusY_6qxKQNaMtCXd1KbCWJCL7eATKRk8WutfXAWQJjeAc5_NtbCIzEsej0uQ3ugpzrbFzTYDNW9RPuMouFdiww/w400-h189/championship-manager-italia-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <br /><p></p><p>Championship Manager Italia was published soon after Championship Manager 93/94 as sort-of spin-off: the game used the same interface and engine, but instead of English divisions it was simulating Italian league, Serie A and Serie B. Here we have only two divisions fully simulated (Serie A and Serie B), rest of the divisions are treated as non-league, which means only about 40 clubs are simulated. Just like in original Championship Manager there is limit of 26 players per club and taking under consideration that player with expired contract is still part of the team, the squads were filling up really quickly and caused huge problems.</p><p> </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJfojQPz_svLOYg8cOgi9ZwdMNmv_6Ja3NtTpK43nGUcuEVrkfL-sVV4d-o4daDBHzhSi6Gy-mxEZ-YIz7H-glYRDp-CH8skSpDQqvZOD39iHphj2H4eVFj4CJ4SG_fX3FFDOFpPc0SQ/s1500/championship-manager-italia-7.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="714" data-original-width="1500" height="190" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJfojQPz_svLOYg8cOgi9ZwdMNmv_6Ja3NtTpK43nGUcuEVrkfL-sVV4d-o4daDBHzhSi6Gy-mxEZ-YIz7H-glYRDp-CH8skSpDQqvZOD39iHphj2H4eVFj4CJ4SG_fX3FFDOFpPc0SQ/w400-h190/championship-manager-italia-7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <br /><p></p><p>Once you buy a player it is almost impossible to get rid of him since there are no lower divisions to buy those that can't find place in top clubs. Even when their contracts run out they stick around in the club and there is no way to remove them, so you are looking at the game that after 2-3 seasons is pretty much stuck and almost none transfers take place - you have to wait for players to retire before free slots are available.<br /><br />Another attraction that backfired was the foreign players list - you can buy the top players in the world, which is great, but at the same time it only increases the pressure on the free slots, since the foreign clubs almost never make transfer offers themselves. Of course you can train players in reserve / youth team, but again - there are no slots so you could promote them anyway, so... </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi72ixPg8hwLQUBPgPzMemTY21ih1PmI5nlF3614ifPs2mvIzvyAOKzEc3NLdMrFcSHctJdynNwzJxH6D_DzsseM58YVArJf7q5RG9nqtV8C12Nb6BbrsvsDD_rJC11UaMt8kBM67tTDw/s1500/championship-manager-italia-8.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="708" data-original-width="1500" height="189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi72ixPg8hwLQUBPgPzMemTY21ih1PmI5nlF3614ifPs2mvIzvyAOKzEc3NLdMrFcSHctJdynNwzJxH6D_DzsseM58YVArJf7q5RG9nqtV8C12Nb6BbrsvsDD_rJC11UaMt8kBM67tTDw/w400-h189/championship-manager-italia-8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p></p><p><br />Championship Manager Italia is another example of how rushing things in game market only leads to giant cock-ups and disappointments. German game Director of Football premiered with bits of both worlds in it - we have here a lot of player parameters (like in classic games) and full graphical presentation of match itself (like in modern games).</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSKsTLC8Ywz4pqWGxwYmf5N4tewLioCiB1N-Kvg6ZwWBGDXaXKjZdbqsa1Zr2XIPsZ_d5mh1j0iC0fptSlhGljfpvHdvTgP074iwcQquYALMhyphenhypheno3SZLh_-gNQaGApIpu3_cUkpBAynYg/s950/dir-of-foot-1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="713" data-original-width="950" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSKsTLC8Ywz4pqWGxwYmf5N4tewLioCiB1N-Kvg6ZwWBGDXaXKjZdbqsa1Zr2XIPsZ_d5mh1j0iC0fptSlhGljfpvHdvTgP074iwcQquYALMhyphenhypheno3SZLh_-gNQaGApIpu3_cUkpBAynYg/w400-h300/dir-of-foot-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRHzk8jRyEoxN14OPXuO0V5MwYq9OY6Hll97bEHPEgVcqW3xUdlz8_BJL4PVAZCg77P6IZbQD3GSPbiMfNLNSD-wULg-v4fbBTLrs_zIp3t2uv097gAAJWEaNunfbP_id85lwYhzOmrg/s950/dir-of-foot-4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="713" data-original-width="950" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRHzk8jRyEoxN14OPXuO0V5MwYq9OY6Hll97bEHPEgVcqW3xUdlz8_BJL4PVAZCg77P6IZbQD3GSPbiMfNLNSD-wULg-v4fbBTLrs_zIp3t2uv097gAAJWEaNunfbP_id85lwYhzOmrg/w400-h300/dir-of-foot-4.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div style="text-align: left;">In Director of Football we can choose club in one of the eight

Looks like online football manager game Football-o-Rama will make the return soon - as it was published today late April or early May 2020 game will be accessible to new players.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF4zUAT7VrONjmcBEw2-z-vln_iqztj7WQLm8S4dEqh5EGy4Di4OFkdp_7NxDzDq1HekI65SH7o3TQuYB3GHZLFaNCjMtJZBWRNsITdskuNJ2cfiPncFquaeUM2Sy1Aty6_klWWrju4g/s1600/beta-2020-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1029" data-original-width="1317" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF4zUAT7VrONjmcBEw2-z-vln_iqztj7WQLm8S4dEqh5EGy4Di4OFkdp_7NxDzDq1HekI65SH7o3TQuYB3GHZLFaNCjMtJZBWRNsITdskuNJ2cfiPncFquaeUM2Sy1Aty6_klWWrju4g/s400/beta-2020-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Football-o-Rama was first available in gold status in 2002 as massive multiplayer online football manager game that gathered users from around the world. Now, after long hiatus, the game returns in new form with new options and features.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz8Z1uxCTpmFu9Vw-xBM6SiYhEct-MlxApZWJmZCedEoOfm_pR6sJa26vaayv8Z_fPT5ll-F1sRXrcCX7MyEy_3fMacmHLXIdczdWsGMFnpgOd03v6msLlIVpJ3BVlyGe47u-U5T4vZA/s1600/beta-2020-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="1376" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz8Z1uxCTpmFu9Vw-xBM6SiYhEct-MlxApZWJmZCedEoOfm_pR6sJa26vaayv8Z_fPT5ll-F1sRXrcCX7MyEy_3fMacmHLXIdczdWsGMFnpgOd03v6msLlIVpJ3BVlyGe47u-U5T4vZA/s400/beta-2020-2.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What makes Football-o-Rama a rarity is the basic transfer system - unlike 99% of similar games in Football-o-Rama you buy and sell players through <b>negotiations with other users</b>, not via auctions. What difference does it make? Once you try it you will see the difference - you can buy / sell players, you can exchange them (offer you player + money for better player from other team), you can loan them (so they can get the experience they would not get in their current team). </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHFWUAkPwWbF9B13-z3K5gFuPhJ_LmP4h0gcplQ31L4Om2kBdsbKSyy-_KiLynrOujIzwtHfOQw4qcCyA3w9E4CnTstvH3vW1pUTyeyI8BhgZcD7kbQvPoGBo4ODH4x2zwP_y8MqOPpg/s1600/beta-2020-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="1370" height="297" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHFWUAkPwWbF9B13-z3K5gFuPhJ_LmP4h0gcplQ31L4Om2kBdsbKSyy-_KiLynrOujIzwtHfOQw4qcCyA3w9E4CnTstvH3vW1pUTyeyI8BhgZcD7kbQvPoGBo4ODH4x2zwP_y8MqOPpg/s400/beta-2020-3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Another feature that will return in Football-o-Rama is the stock market - you can sell your stock or buy it from other teams. The price of the stock changes according to how well the team is performing in the league and cups. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-QFks7jCshxBrEDmkc19PROsl3tUgH0p0RSmyok9vPcLZ7krKDkju4Lo5zPAZCTCQc98j04auNpk9lswCnEo5gkziJnCauu3WoMZrE10N-CrwJbactX07DhyqnUxz4aWON_vlu-oxBA/s1600/beta-2020-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1014" data-original-width="1292" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-QFks7jCshxBrEDmkc19PROsl3tUgH0p0RSmyok9vPcLZ7krKDkju4Lo5zPAZCTCQc98j04auNpk9lswCnEo5gkziJnCauu3WoMZrE10N-CrwJbactX07DhyqnUxz4aWON_vlu-oxBA/s400/beta-2020-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

Football-o-Rama, a multiplayer online football manager game is about to make comeback after several years of hiatus. The browser game should be available to first public users in about 2 weeks time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhapyeBip_kKMrguGtbDswXS4mNX5ttjPh_NwxbneupD7P6FregecLkw9BX0ItC74aJIcKJcprEYG8fL2BROLvP4EcAWhkSrwtlOXfKChA8dvo_pKYtBGOBceOWLULkBOgbEbTSkm43tQ/s1600/beta-2020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="622" data-original-width="771" height="321" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhapyeBip_kKMrguGtbDswXS4mNX5ttjPh_NwxbneupD7P6FregecLkw9BX0ItC74aJIcKJcprEYG8fL2BROLvP4EcAWhkSrwtlOXfKChA8dvo_pKYtBGOBceOWLULkBOgbEbTSkm43tQ/s400/beta-2020.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Right now the game is in closed beta stage, or as the creators called it "phantom season", in which beta testers and AI managers are playing the game. If those tests prove to be fruitful the game should re-open soon. Football-o-Rama will share some of the resources with single-player Santa Monica FC Online, so any experience gained in that game could give advantage in multiplayer game.</div>

After 2 months of hard work and tests we just activated Niklas Persson's
Project game mode, which gives you chance to run a national team. On
surface this mode is similar to SMFC Pro, you get full player data and
statistics, but at the same time your managerial options are limited to
just few.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvZIJl-dPGJyDuv9nndV2bsx8-DEuPKoXWpi_gPZ4ImPGiu_y6UB3oB-_QU-kstFyjIjqtkWPsXu3YD9fJEPkiJRvNCgCXGMY26J3gkUd5xIlPS-h101ZYzSMp8TDUKpDgRCp7wWTaFQ/s1600/zrzut-repr-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="775" data-original-width="1091" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvZIJl-dPGJyDuv9nndV2bsx8-DEuPKoXWpi_gPZ4ImPGiu_y6UB3oB-_QU-kstFyjIjqtkWPsXu3YD9fJEPkiJRvNCgCXGMY26J3gkUd5xIlPS-h101ZYzSMp8TDUKpDgRCp7wWTaFQ/s400/zrzut-repr-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course you can't change team colours, you can't hire staff, you can't
improve the stadium or take care of financial side, at least not at
that point (Niklas Persson's Project is currently in version 0.1 that
will be improved with time). The season is shorter - you will play 14
games in qualification group (no matter on which continent you will be
taking part), if you manage to reach the top 2 you will play in World
Cup group (3 matches) and potentially 4 knock-out round matches (with
last one as the World Cup final). Right now only World Cup is simulated,
mostly because on some continents the local national competitions would
be rather boring (f.e. in South America you would get almost exactly
same set of opponents in qualifications and the final tournaments since
there are lest than 20 countries).<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcHAtRYwYXQZHGCLusQXNQ-ICm70a0cWrXWyw28B81CQ75uRe_7eotHeZT6A8KrjMihF5NZA3w1u5QzikqB_hCvNlnC4uoWCUJGkKPPMCXQkHIeMbhUXRxh30FikhOhvoRGBKB0z-7mA/s1600/zrzut-repr-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1037" data-original-width="1032" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcHAtRYwYXQZHGCLusQXNQ-ICm70a0cWrXWyw28B81CQ75uRe_7eotHeZT6A8KrjMihF5NZA3w1u5QzikqB_hCvNlnC4uoWCUJGkKPPMCXQkHIeMbhUXRxh30FikhOhvoRGBKB0z-7mA/s400/zrzut-repr-2.jpg" width="397" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">national team manager - your player details</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
There are no transfer options, of course, which makes this game mode
tricky - you don't choose whether the players will have universal or
realistic skills, because Niklas Persson's Project always runs on
realistic skills. What is more you get around 100 players generated at
the beginning of the game to give you chance to pick the best ones for
national team and you are pretty much stuck with them until they retire -
you can't just send scout to find a new talent, they will pop up at the
beginning of the new season or via random events, so you have to play
with the players you are given. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Right now Niklas Persson's Project is in 0.1 version, so keep in mind
that there might be some slight problems in the gameplay and we are
still working on this feature. More info: <a href="http://tinyurl.com/sfgz2fg">national team manager</a><br />

<br />
<br />
Global Soccer Manager is project of clearly a classic <a href="https://topfootballmanagers.blogspot.com/2019/09/championship-manager-timeless-classic.html">Championship Manager</a> games from Hungary - the player parameters, the lineup selection, the match report, your squad list, all of it will look very familiar to anybody who played Champ Man games in the past. To put it in another words it is more or less copy of old Championship Manager, but with one big difference - it is not even close to reaching the same level of gameplay. At least not right now.<br />
<br />
First of all the interface, although similar to Championship Manager, can hardly be called user-friendly - even selecting your own nationality in first step of the game is unnecessarily complicated, browsing through the player data could be tricky since player parameters are listed alphabetically, searching for player could be complicated since there is no clear choice of player parameters to filter them out (for example by position or age). Even simple task as selecting a lineup is not done properly, you have to select position from list to assign it to new player, can't just move the marker from previous player that was placed on that position.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjijM8hGO7MMfOWcwMKpM1RPZm_IGC-LgTwQJyMVapuuGmVZmkTCrNSshxoJPIHCqq3yfVsH_0ky5nfPKVDrNulEGZdugkgLwVMQ8KJ0LyRKICeZq_PKfKFYdeXdRJWXEk_q5pb0e5kOw/s1600/20191101165434_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjijM8hGO7MMfOWcwMKpM1RPZm_IGC-LgTwQJyMVapuuGmVZmkTCrNSshxoJPIHCqq3yfVsH_0ky5nfPKVDrNulEGZdugkgLwVMQ8KJ0LyRKICeZq_PKfKFYdeXdRJWXEk_q5pb0e5kOw/s400/20191101165434_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Another problem is with the match engine that provides very little informations during the game and even less after the match is over (there are no individual player statistics). Team selection and tactics are very simple and do not give much chance to come up with great game plan. Training options are just tedious - you can choose different training session for each day in the calendar, but there are no options create a weekly or monthly schedule and thus limit your workload. And you can’t even hire any staff members to help you around...<br />
<br />
And the last of the big problems - the game really feels a half-baked project of enthusiast rather than methodically prepared project. For example if you filter players with good pace, passing and creativity skills you might find that most of the players recommended for you are actually goalkeepers, which suggests that the individual skills are just randomly generated.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQauDTaoQnpVa8STba1s-1Zdu40r_TjUd13r0L-STvINMPfNADZruWgDZanIa-n6Xkj0GRWHXTIgecf39-UV55Oid3ptE74S45iDfnjRyaQ5ovFBTmH43oAgqokgSGtgS2_JYeK29qQ/s1600/20191101162015_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQauDTaoQnpVa8STba1s-1Zdu40r_TjUd13r0L-STvINMPfNADZruWgDZanIa-n6Xkj0GRWHXTIgecf39-UV55Oid3ptE74S45iDfnjRyaQ5ovFBTmH43oAgqokgSGtgS2_JYeK29qQ/s400/20191101162015_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
At this point in time Global Soccer Manager is nowhere near reaching its target of being competition to classic Championship Manager - the game is hard to play and even harder to enjoy - generating the world takes about 10 minutes, reaching first season match about 20 minutes during which you have very little to do and can’t play a friendly matches.<br />

<br />
Rather old and simple <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/" target="_blank">football management game</a> that simulates a single English division (first as it is stated in the title, but today first doesn’t exactly mean the top division).<br />
<br />
We have only the very basic options available - training, team selection and transfers, the rest of the club parameters are more or less beyond our reach. For example we have the weekly balance of incomes and expenditure, but practically no tools to improve the incomes or limit the expends.<br />
<br />
Simple animations with multiple endings are used during the match (similar to Anstoss, although not that impressive), which give very little information about the performance of our players.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately only few foreign players are available (van Basten, Zenga, McCoist) and there is not even one international competition, so it is literally "1st Division only" manager.<br />
<br />
The graphic aspect is far from being impressive, but it isn’t the main point of the game. 1st Division Manager can be considered "middle class" among such games - nothing special.<br />

<br />
One of the most surprising German games - contrary to their typical, very strict, approach to any games, especially <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/" target="_blank">football manager</a> ones, Anstoss had great atmosphere and introduced many elements present in today games of the genre that were a novelty back then. We run a Bundesliga team in local and international competitions. For legal reasons they were not the real names, but made up (f.e. HSV Berlin or SG Bremen), but the editor allowed to edit all of them. Same case with the player names.<br />
<br />

<br />
The player skills are described, as usually in German <a href="http://retro.frey-united.com/games/retro-soccer-manager-games" target="_blank">football managers</a>, using only one value (between 1 and 10) and form factor (between 1 and 20) that together give us the match value for this player at this particular moment. The player statistics are almost non-existent, the training and other management options (including transfers) are very simple and limited, yet Anstoss was a great success and lead to production of English version of the game called On the Ball and its <a href="http://www.frey-united.com/aagg/football-management-games/on-the-ball-world-cup-edition#game" target="_blank">World Cup</a> version.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">match preview during the event</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The reason was simple - the atmosphere. The matches are presented in a manner similar to that of <a href="http://retro.frey-united.com/game/the-manager" target="_blank">The Manager</a>, by using animations with different endings, but these are animations of considerable size and often are accompanied by funny comments or unexpected events. There are several elements that were quite novelty in 1993, like team of the week, interviews with the media, random events (some of them quite surprising) - all of it recreated the climate that surrounded Bundesliga in that era.<br />
<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">tactics setting</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
One of the "must-see" games that changed a lot in the genre and introduced elements later copied by other games, some of them even in today <a href="http://www.onlinegamesbay.com/online-games/online-football-manager-games" target="_blank">online football managers</a>. Of course in today standards Anstoss is not that impressive, but keep in mind that it was published 25 years ago.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The third installment of the Premier Manager games offered a standard scenario (we start in the amateur Vauxhall Conference and fight for promotion to professional divisions), decent graphics and a wide range of club management options.<br />
<br />
One of the main attractions was the possibility of hiring many co-workers (assistant manager, coaches, scouts, junior coach) and assigning tasks to them, which decreased the workload on our shoulders. The improvement / expansion of the stadium and the signing sponsorship contracts were increasing the ways we could improve out club - a better stadium meant more revenue from tickets, but at the same time such investments consumed money that we could not spend on transfers.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6EXsfszngaLpyqUqRGcABrt6BvJk08UweuPflkeUMri2sYaYk2AMIG7T2w5-4aTRjisCNOCH3-iGBQNomnS1UnQoam27pxXpOJ68EACg-M5TLEYKya-0Fjg1XDn7SOtcYRniaQWaCg/s1600/Premier+Manager+3+%25281994%2529%2528Gremlin%2529%2528Disk+1+of+2%2529%255Bcr%255D_005.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="931" data-original-width="1600" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6EXsfszngaLpyqUqRGcABrt6BvJk08UweuPflkeUMri2sYaYk2AMIG7T2w5-4aTRjisCNOCH3-iGBQNomnS1UnQoam27pxXpOJ68EACg-M5TLEYKya-0Fjg1XDn7SOtcYRniaQWaCg/s400/Premier+Manager+3+%25281994%2529%2528Gremlin%2529%2528Disk+1+of+2%2529%255Bcr%255D_005.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Transfer negotiations also looked a bit different than in most games -
many clubs could make offers for players (open offers) and in
subsequent rounds they could raise them, but at the end the player made
the decision which club he wanted to move to (which resulted in making
it very hard to sing a decent player for amateur conference team).<br />
<br />
In
general a complicated game, the match presentation was perhaps not the
best one, but it was possible to very precisely determine the positions
of the players on the field depending on which sector the ball was in,
and then during the match watch how it works.<br />
<br />
Premier Manager 3 was not an easy game to like, but you have to appreciate its level of development and range of options in this <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/" target="_blank">football manager</a>.<br />

Championship Manager, the first game of the franchise, wasn't perhaps an impressive game when you take a look at the screens below - just lines of text, simple numbers to show the values, game engine wasn't giving much info or match statistics, but in a way it was a timeless classic that hardly had any competitions in years to come. </div>

<br />
Why? It isn't easy to explain really. On surface it was just another <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/">football manager</a>, nothing special about it, but once you started to play it became obvious it is something special. For start you didn't have to start from the bottom of the league and work your way to the top, you could have just take a team from Premiership and fight for the title in your first season.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">player details</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
What is more you could have play in up to 4 players (not at the same time, but in rounds), but the real thing with <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/">Championship Manager</a> began when your was doing poorly, because you could have been actually fired. What is so special about it? The little thing - you still could go on playing. No, not running a team any more, but you were still in the game and you could have apply for position in another team. Of course if you did not gained enough reputation in your previous club it could have been tough to find another job, but not impossible.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMbZ4s6EMaHFxS2k9EJI5afNh6qoMztYiNg8g-UR_0h0HCFURKmu7kNZ1Vmhhfa-IuVRqhDuepTOuj1H8z0AzI4E1yhcmk6piJH_81Hx4D8vvJPc5kmkc5ebmJos1jW9ws7Ta1pDvDVg/s1600/champman-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Championship Manager classic" border="0" data-original-height="831" data-original-width="1600" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMbZ4s6EMaHFxS2k9EJI5afNh6qoMztYiNg8g-UR_0h0HCFURKmu7kNZ1Vmhhfa-IuVRqhDuepTOuj1H8z0AzI4E1yhcmk6piJH_81Hx4D8vvJPc5kmkc5ebmJos1jW9ws7Ta1pDvDVg/s400/champman-4.jpg" title="Championship Manager classic" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Another thing was with the players - their skills were shown in form of values between 1 and 20 and while in the matches you could not see their actual statistics or events the overall ratings were really showing how good they were. I know it does not sound like much, but for example you could have gone to the top scorer ranking, select any of the lower divisions and buy player who were at the top of the list (if his club would allow). Of course he would need time to adapt to your level of the competition, but it was almost guaranteed that once player shows a talent he can play well in different club as well. <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">your club staff</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Same story with the youth players - it was possible to use them as emergency replacement players if you had problems with setting up the lineup for the match, but if they had enough talent they could have been valuable team members in the matches. To stretch it further if you would give them a chance as youth players to take part in the first team they would be a bit better once they reach age to play as professional.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN-bRPslsQBGFGr1G5mYsSvuuXFcPD1HzklTLVMBIkd41Pgv-OFIU_QekyHMX1ndYVeGgNFBVAwNaIV_M0vpOepsTC9cosj-6pgEOicWhGFZXtT6ZnuGcl_0IXEsHof56tzQEosAP6cA/s1600/champman-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Championship Manager" border="0" data-original-height="831" data-original-width="1600" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN-bRPslsQBGFGr1G5mYsSvuuXFcPD1HzklTLVMBIkd41Pgv-OFIU_QekyHMX1ndYVeGgNFBVAwNaIV_M0vpOepsTC9cosj-6pgEOicWhGFZXtT6ZnuGcl_0IXEsHof56tzQEosAP6cA/s400/champman-6.jpg" title="Championship Manager" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">foreign players list</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Those were just simple examples of tiny little bits that made <a href="http://rama.frey-united.com/online-soccer-managers/top/championship-manager">Championship Manager</a> a legend - they were not spectacular, they were not significant on first glance, but once you invested some time in the game you began to realize that almost nothing in the game was actually random and each of your decision could have consequences in years to come.<br />
<br />
Of course time have changed and today first version of <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/">Championship Manager</a> can hardly compete with modern <a href="http://rama.frey-united.com/online-soccer-managers">football manager games</a>, but it is important to see how little it takes to create a really great game even without much of the graphics or 3D match preview.<br />

Santa Monica FC Online is a brand new <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/" target="_blank">online football manager</a> described by its creators as compact <b>online football / soccer manager game</b>
for those, who are tired of waiting for next round in their favourite
online multiplayer soccer manager game or are just casual players.</div>
<div class="cytat">
<br /></div>
<div class="cytat">
How does it work? In SMFC Online you don't have to wait for other players - you can
play as many matches as you want, whenever you want, without any limits.
For each game original set of clubs and players will be generated for
you.<br />
<br />

<br />
While the game is minimalistic it contains most of the typical options
of big online soccer games: running your own club, dealing on transfer
list, play in league and cup matches, take care of training, economy,
stadium. You can start your team in any of <a href="http://smfc.frey-united.com/index.php?manager=world">over 180 countries around the world</a> and face the procedurally generated opponents.<br />
<br />
You can start each game with <b>different starting parameters</b> settings (there are over 100,000 combinations), which means the game will be different each time you play it. You can also use <b>in-game editor</b> to adapt the clubs and players in your game to your expectations.</div>
